the one that's kind of depressing

yesterday while reading the wapo, i came across this great article. about 3% of d.c. residents are known to have hiv/aids. that's a higher rate than west africa. and that's just known cases. that's horrifying. 


but, lucky for me, i'm not sharing beds with anyone other than my puppy. :)

I agree. It is horrible. It also makes me pause when people (yeah I mean you and certain journalist- your MSNBC girl Rachel) make statements that imply Africa and HIV/ AIDS are synonyms. I understand this epidemic is affecting African countries in disproportionate numbers, I just ask people to make sure the distinction is clear Africa(n) does not equal HIV/AIDS. Thank you. Be careful up there missy. BET commercial- Rap it up!

they aren't synonyms. but it's an example used to underscore how serious AIDS is in the United States. many people think of it as a disease that affects others. my point was to remind everyone that, no, it affects US.
